He emphasized the importance of these activities for patients and their families, especially on such a significant day.
“March 18 is a very meaningful day for us because of the Çanakkale Victory. Today, our martyrs’ relatives, veterans, and members of the Turkish Armed Forces and police were with us. In addition, our adult and child patients from every corner of our hospital were also with us. We truly created a very emotional and beautiful day. Whether in uniform or not, the children of this nation are always ready to shed their blood and give their lives for their homeland. Today, in a way, we went back in time and experienced this. Similar emotions were present in the hall. When we looked into the eyes of the participants, we all saw that spirit of 1915,” said Prof. Dr. Adıgüzel.
Veterans and Patients Share Their Feelings
Vahap Tümen, a veteran who lost his leg in a clash with terrorists in Genç district of Bingöl in 1994, shared his sentiments: “It was a very beautiful event, we liked it. As martyrs’ families and veterans, we have paid a price for this homeland, but I am happy that I gave my leg for this homeland.”
Nurten Özdemir, a patient undergoing treatment at the hospital, expressed her deep emotions: “I was very moved. I couldn’t hold back my tears when the National Anthem was sung for the first time because I couldn’t stand up.” Gür Sultan Ay, who came to Ankara from Afyonkarahisar for treatment, also praised the concert and wished mercy upon the martyrs.
The concert served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for the nation and provided a moment of solace and reflection for all attendees, especially those in recovery and the families of national heroes.
