Ankara’s Largest Pet Park in Mamak Nearing Completion
Ankara, April 14 – The Mamak Municipality’s ambitious project to create Ankara’s largest pet park within the Üreğil National Garden is in its final stages. This significant development, covering an expansive 25,000 square meters, is poised to become a new focal point for families and children, offering a unique opportunity to engage with nature and a diverse array of animals.
The initiative aims to enhance the natural landscape of the region through extensive road widening and afforestation efforts. Alongside these improvements, dedicated social areas are being developed, providing safe and pleasant spaces for families to picnic and for children to play freely. The centerpiece of this grand project is undoubtedly its dedicated pet area, designed to house a variety of animal species.
A Sanctuary for Diverse Animal Species
The park will be home to a wide range of animals, including horses, goats, rabbits, Ankara Pigeons, Ankara Rabbits, Ankara Cats, pheasants, Silkie chickens, ducks, geese, Sultan chickens, and partridges. This diverse collection is intended to allow children to experience animals up close, fostering a deeper connection with the natural world and promoting animal welfare education.
Mamak Mayor Veli Gündüz Şahin has been closely monitoring the progress of the project, with paddock areas also nearing completion. The vision is for the Üreğil National Garden to transform into one of Mamak’s most attractive destinations, drawing visitors from across Ankara and beyond.
With the completion of the work expected in a short period, Mamak will gain a vital social living space that champions nature and animal love. This park is anticipated to not only offer recreational opportunities but also serve as an educational hub, highlighting the importance of biodiversity and environmental stewardship.
Community Impact and Future Prospects
The establishment of such a large-scale pet park underscores Mamak Municipality’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents. By providing accessible green spaces and opportunities for interaction with animals, the project contributes to the well-being and cultural enrichment of the community. It also aligns with broader efforts to promote sustainable urban development and enhance public amenities.
The park is expected to boost local tourism and economic activity, attracting visitors who seek unique recreational and educational experiences. The focus on local breeds like the Ankara Pigeon, Ankara Rabbit, and Ankara Cat also serves to celebrate and preserve regional heritage.
As the final touches are applied, anticipation builds for the grand opening, which will mark a new chapter for Üreğil National Garden and for Mamak as a whole. This park is set to become a cherished asset, offering countless hours of enjoyment and learning for generations to come.
