Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) President Gürsel Baran provided information about the capital’s economy to Belgian Queen Mathilde and her accompanying delegation.
High-Level Turkey-Belgium Business Roundtable Meeting
According to a statement from ATO, Baran participated in the “High-Level Turkey-Belgium Business Roundtable Meeting” in Istanbul with Queen Mathilde and her delegation, who visited Turkey as part of the “Belgian Economic Mission” at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In his speech, Baran stated that the trade volume between Turkey and Belgium reached 9.2 billion dollars by the end of 2025. He emphasized, “As the Ankara business community, we are ready to contribute to further advancing our commercial and economic relations with Belgium.”
Baran evaluated the economic and commercial cooperation opportunities between the business communities of the two countries and also provided information about the Ankara economy.
Ankara’s Strategic Sectors and Opportunities
Baran drew attention to Ankara’s potential in production, technology, health, and tourism, noting:
“The capital Ankara has a strong ecosystem in many strategic sectors, from defense and aerospace industries to medical, machinery and equipment production, and software and technology ventures. In this respect, we believe that Ankara offers significant opportunities for Belgian companies. We particularly believe that joint projects can be developed in green transformation, digitalization, sustainable production, logistics, and R&D. In recent years, Ankara has added tourism to its strong development in trade and industry. The capital has significant potential, especially in cultural and health tourism.”
The meeting highlighted the strong economic ties and potential for further collaboration between Turkey and Belgium, with a particular focus on Ankara’s growing economic landscape.
