AURA Istanbul Launches 2026 Spring Term Program: Focus on Urban Transformation in Istanbul
Istanbul, February 25 – AURA Istanbul has officially launched the application period for its 2026 Spring Term Certificate Program, designed for young professionals who have completed their undergraduate studies. The program, centered around the theme “Urban Transformation in Istanbul: A Transdisciplinary Perspective,” aims to re-evaluate urban transformation processes within the dynamic context of Istanbul.
The program’s core will be an Research-Based Design Studio, led by consultants Tansel Korkmaz and Cem Çelik. This studio will offer an interdisciplinary platform for participants to delve into critical topics such as social housing, commons, the right to the city, and urban resilience. A significant component of the program involves developing analyses, conducting field research, and creating design scenarios specifically for vulnerable areas within Istanbul.
Reimagined Studio Structure for Active Participation
AURA Istanbul has reimagined the studio structure to ensure active participation from young professionals, allowing them to continue their academic and professional pursuits while engaging in a collaborative environment of thought and research. Participants will be involved in a multi-layered production process, encompassing historical research, socio-economic analyses, visual archive studies, and the development of alternative design proposals.
The program is scheduled to take place in person at AURA Istanbul’s center in Beşiktaş, from March 9 to June 28, 2026. The deadline for applications has been set for March 2, 2026, with interviews scheduled for March 7, 2026.
Application Requirements and Program Details
Prospective candidates are required to submit a letter of intent, an updated curriculum vitae, a portfolio, and, if available, a certificate of English proficiency as part of the application process.
