Ankara, December 23 – The Ankara Balıkesir Association organized a special breakfast program for university students from Balıkesir studying in various universities across the capital. The event, held at the association’s headquarters, aimed to bring together young people from different districts, neighborhoods, and villages of Balıkesir.
Community and Connection at the Breakfast Table
The weekend breakfast, a long-standing tradition initiated by Association President Servet Camgöz, featured a rich spread of homemade pastries, cakes, and cookies prepared by association members. Guests also enjoyed Balıkesir-specific cheeses and olives, alongside omelets and sausages. This initiative underscores the association’s commitment to fostering a sense of community among students far from home.
Balıkesir Member of Parliament Mustafa Canbey attended the program, engaging in conversations with the students. Canbey emphasized the importance of such community-oriented association work, acknowledging the difficulties faced by students living away from their hometowns. He extended his gratitude to President Servet Camgöz and the association’s management for their dedicated efforts.
Remote Greetings and Future Invitations
Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın, who was attending another program with students in Balıkesir, addressed the attendees via teleconference. Mayor Akın wished the students success in their academic endeavors and congratulated the association’s management. He also extended an invitation for the students to attend a breakfast event in Balıkesir.
The gathering also saw the participation of former students, including Veterinarian Mutlu and Lawyer Mehmet, who now serve on the association’s management and audit boards. Their shared memories evoked emotional moments, particularly touching the new university students attending the breakfast for the first time. Many expressed their appreciation for the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
A Home Away From Home: The Association’s Open Doors
Students were particularly impressed by the association’s library, thanking President Camgöz and inquiring about the next meeting. Servet Camgöz reiterated that the association is always open to students, emphasizing that the building serves as a free meeting point on weekends and after school hours. He was met with applause when he declared, “Tea is ready, make your own toast.”
This event highlights the Ankara Balıkesir Association’s ongoing efforts to support and connect Balıkesir students in Ankara, providing them with a valuable network and a supportive environment during their university years.
