Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA Achieves Direct Hit in Air-to-Air Firing Test
Istanbul, February 22 – The Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA (Assault Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), developed domestically by BAYKAR, successfully destroyed a target UAV in an air-to-air firing test using the Eren High-Speed Multi-Purpose Loitering Munition. This achievement further enhances the operational capabilities of the Akıncı.
Successful Test with Eren High-Speed Multi-Purpose Loitering Munition
The Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA continues to develop its operational capabilities and integrate various munitions. Following successful air-to-air engagements with the Kemankeş 1 Artificial Intelligence-Based Mini Cruise Missile, the Akıncı has now achieved a similar success with the Eren High-Speed Multi-Purpose Loitering Munition, developed by Roketsan.
Launch from Çorlu, Target Hit in Sinop
As part of the test, the Bayraktar Akıncı took off from the Akıncı Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu, Tekirdağ, and proceeded to the test area over the Black Sea. During the test conducted off the coast of Sinop, a target UAV launched from the ground was successfully neutralized in the sky by the Eren munition fired from the Assault Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. Following the successful hit that destroyed the target, the national TİHA returned to Çorlu, following its planned route.
Versatile Operational Power
Extending its success in air-to-ground munitions to air-to-air missions, the Bayraktar Akıncı has reinforced its operational flexibility with this successful firing using the Eren munition. The national TİHA, capable of successfully using different types of munitions against ground and air targets, has once again demonstrated its strategic power. To date, various munitions have been successfully tested as part of the national TİHA’s development activities, including MAM-L, MAM-L TV, MAM-T, MAM-T IIR/TV, MAM-C, TOLUN, TOLUN IIR, Teber-81, Teber-82, LAÇİN 82 LGK-81, LGK-82, HGK-82, Gökçe Guided Kit, Gözde Guided Kit, KGK-82-SİHA, İHA-230 Supersonic Missile, TV Seeker and Laser Seeker Headed İHA-122 Supersonic Missile, and Çakır Cruise Missile.
Altitude Record Holder
The Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA, which has been successfully operating in the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) inventory since its entry on August 29, 2021, also holds the altitude record in Turkish aviation history. The national TİHA Bayraktar Akıncı set a record on June 21, 2022, by ascending to an altitude of 45,118 feet (13,716 meters) during endurance, high altitude, and high-speed tests conducted in the presence of delegations from the Presidency of Defense Industries and the Air Force Command.
