Istanbul, December 22 – In a drone-supported operation aimed at apprehending suspects involved in drug manufacturing and sales in Tuzla, four individuals were detained. The operation led to the seizure of 2.389 kilograms of illicit drugs and 117,340 Turkish Lira. Following court proceedings, two of the suspects were formally arrested.
Successful Raid in Tuzla’s Yayla Neighborhood
The Istanbul Police Department initiated the drone-backed operation in Tuzla to prevent and combat the crime of ‘Manufacturing and Trafficking of Drugs or Stimulants.’ On December 15, during an operation targeting a parked vehicle in the Yayla Neighborhood, suspects Ö.A. and M.Ö. were caught red-handed with 650 grams of drugs. The apprehension of the suspects was captured by aerial drone footage.
Subsequent searches conducted at the residences of the detained suspects yielded an additional 1.738 kilograms of methamphetamine and 117,340 Turkish Lira. During these searches, two female suspects, identified as Ö.Ü. and M.B., who were present at the residences, were also apprehended and taken into custody.
Two Suspects Formally Arrested
Following their processing at the police department, the suspects were transferred to the courthouse. Of the four individuals, M.Ö. and M.B. were released under judicial control, while Ö.A. and Ö.Ü. were formally arrested and subsequently sent to prison. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Istanbul Police Department to combat drug-related crimes and enhance public safety through advanced surveillance techniques.
The successful use of drone technology in this operation highlights a growing trend in law enforcement, allowing for more comprehensive surveillance and safer execution of raids. The significant seizure of drugs and currency indicates a substantial disruption to local drug trafficking networks.
Authorities continue to investigate the broader implications of this operation, including potential links to larger criminal organizations. The commitment to eradicating drug-related activities remains a top priority for law enforcement agencies in Istanbul.
