We bought gifts for the children, household necessities, and Eid sweets and Turkish delight. The arcades seemed closed, so it was a bit quieter in those areas. I wish for peace, tranquility, and a happy Eid for everyone in my country.”

Despite the current activity, some local merchants expressed a longing for past Eid celebrations. Hüseyin Yavuzer, a shopkeeper, remarked, “We really miss the old Eids. The joy and spirit of the old Eids are gone. Even the street is empty; when Eid approached, we used to sell nuts in bulk. Now, that’s not the case, which you can attribute to people’s purchasing power or the economy. First and foremost, I wish for healthy, happy, and peaceful Eids. May those returning to their hometowns arrive safely. I wish for nothing else, a happy Eid to all.”
