Istanbul, March 19 – Amid escalating geopolitical tensions and rapidly developing global crises, world leaders, diplomats, and experts are set to convene in Istanbul for the STRATCOM Summit. Organized by the Directorate of Communications, the two-day event will take place on March 27-28.

Summit to Address Global Crises and Strategic Communication

The summit aims to bring together heads of state, ministers, policymakers, and leading academics to discuss the future of the international order, strategic communication, and the management of global crises. The opening session will feature Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, alongside numerous high-level diplomats.

Day One: Shaping the Global Order and Leadership Diplomacy

The first day of the summit will focus on how strategic communication is shaping the changing global order. The panel titled “The New Framework of the Global Order” will be moderated by Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Syria, Bangladesh, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will discuss changing power balances and the role of communication in shaping international narratives.

Other sessions will delve into leadership diplomacy and mediation. Participants from Qatar, Libya, and Egypt will share their experiences in conflict resolution and regional diplomacy. The event will also address climate diplomacy and the digital transformation of public opinion. Professor Dr. Ramon Salaverría from the University of Navarra will evaluate global climate governance and communication strategies.

The first day will conclude with a panel examining the increasing crises of trust and legitimacy in international institutions, as well as the intersection of women, migration, and social policies.

Day Two: Continuous Crises and Instability

The second day will commence with a speech by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, followed by an Iran-focused panel. Participants will then discuss what they describe as the “new normal” of continuous crises and an environment of instability in global governance.

The STRATCOM Summit is anticipated to be a significant platform for addressing the role of communication in managing global crises and fostering international cooperation during a period of heightened geopolitical tensions.

Those wishing to attend the summit must register by March 24 at 18:00.
