The 80th conference of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) will bring together pilot representatives and aviation authorities from around the world in Istanbul, hosted by TALPA. This significant event is considered one of the most important international platforms for pilot associations and aviation authorities globally.

IFALPA: Representing Over 160,000 Pilots Worldwide

IFALPA, as the largest international pilot federation, represents more than 160,000 pilots in over 70 countries worldwide. The conference, held annually in a different country, serves as a crucial forum for discussing critical issues facing the aviation industry and pilot community.

A Special Date for Turkish Aviation

The timing of the conference holds special significance for Turkish aviation history. April 26 is recognized as the date of Fesa Evrensev’s first flight in 1912, a pioneer of Turkish aviation. This date was declared World Pilots’ Day by IFALPA, at the initiative of Turkish pilots and the suggestion of the Turkish Air Line Pilots’ Association (TALPA).

Istanbul Conference to Highlight Turkey’s Role in Global Aviation

The conference in Istanbul aims to highlight both this historical legacy and Turkey’s role in the global aviation ecosystem on an international platform. Captain Pilot Okan Üreksoy, President of TALPA, emphasized the importance of the conference for Turkish aviation, stating, “Turkish civil aviation has achieved strong growth momentum in recent years. Hosting IFALPA’s 80th conference in Istanbul will once again make Turkey’s role in the global aviation ecosystem and its potential to become an aviation hub visible on the international platform.”

Structural Issues for Sustainable Development

Within the scope of the conference, it is expected that representatives from the aviation industry will address structural issues crucial for the sustainable development of the sector from a broader perspective. These discussions are anticipated to cover a wide range of topics relevant to the future of aviation, including safety, training, and technological advancements.

Anticipated Impact on the Aviation Industry

The gathering of global pilot representatives and aviation authorities in Istanbul is expected to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, contributing to the advancement of aviation standards and practices worldwide. The conference provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders to collectively address challenges and explore opportunities for growth and innovation in the sector.

The event is poised to strengthen Turkey’s position as a key player in international aviation and reinforce its commitment to promoting safety and excellence in air travel.
