Istanbul, April 3 – Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, GoTürkiye, Turkey’s digital promotion brand, has initiated a new communication strategy to globally showcase Istanbul’s vibrant music and event calendar. This initiative, launched in April, aims to bring Istanbul’s rich cultural and artistic scene to an international audience, according to a statement from the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA).
GoTürkiye’s “What’s On” Strategy to Boost International Visibility
The newly implemented “What’s On” strategy will leverage digital channels to promote concerts and events held in Istanbul to millions worldwide. This effort is designed to highlight the city’s year-round event schedule through content shared on GoTürkiye’s social media accounts, which collectively boast 21.8 million followers.
As part of the campaign, “Music Vibe” videos will be published across these platforms, presenting Istanbul’s diverse music scene, event venues, and international artists under a unified narrative. This integrated approach aims to position Istanbul as a significant destination for music and cultural tourism.
Istanbul Becomes a Key Stop for International Artists
The statement noted that Istanbul has become a crucial stop on world tours this year, with international artists increasingly incorporating the city into their concert schedules. This trend underscores Istanbul’s growing prominence in the global entertainment landscape.
The event calendar, kicking off in April with Sonar Istanbul, promises a wide array of musical genres, from classical to electronic, and pop to rock. May will feature prominent events such as “The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others,” and concerts by Andrea Bocelli and Kanye West.
Looking ahead to June, Istanbul will host several international events, including the Istanbul Music Festival and the Istanbul Jazz Festival. Later in the year, the music calendar will continue with concerts by The Black Keys and Blue, further solidifying Istanbul’s status as a year-round cultural hub.
Global Reach Through Strategic Hashtags and Event Tourism Focus
To maximize global reach, the campaign will utilize hashtags such as #WhatsoninTürkiye, #GoTürkiye, and #EventsinTürkiye in its shared content. This strategic use of social media aims to amplify the campaign’s message and attract a wider international audience.
The strategy, developed with a focus on event tourism, seeks to enhance Turkey’s international visibility and distribute tourism demand throughout the year. The project, coordinated by GoTürkiye and TGA, consolidates a broad spectrum of content-from concerts to cultural and artistic events, sports, and gastronomy-under a single umbrella.
