Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Istanbul and 14 Other Turkish Cities

Istanbul, May 27 – The Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) has issued a yellow code warning for heavy rainfall in Istanbul and 14 other cities, including Izmir, on the second day of Eid al-Adha. The latest weather report indicates widespread showers and thunderstorms across various regions, with some areas expecting locally strong precipitation.

Detailed Forecast: Regions Affected by Heavy Rainfall

According to the MGM’s latest assessment, the entire country is expected to be partly to very cloudy. Northern and eastern Marmara, Inner Aegean, the Mediterranean (excluding central Antalya), Central Anatolia, the Black Sea region, northern and western Eastern Anatolia, Denizli and Aydın provinces, and the eastern parts of Izmir and Muğla are forecast to experience showers and thunderstorms. Other areas will be partly cloudy.

The rainfall is expected to be locally strong tomorrow afternoon in Thrace, Inner Aegean, the Lakes Region, the inner parts of the Western Black Sea, the Taurus Mountains region of the Eastern Mediterranean, Ankara, Kırıkkale, and Çankırı provinces, as well as the eastern parts of Niğde and Kayseri.

Temperature and Wind Conditions

Air temperatures are expected to remain around seasonal norms. Winds will generally blow from the north and northwest, and from the southwest in the eastern parts, with light to moderate intensity, occasionally strong during rainfall.

Partly to very cloudy, with rainfall expected across the region (excluding Izmir). Rainfall is expected to be locally strong in Muğla, Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, Uşak, and Kütahya provinces.

  • Izmir: 19°C, 30°C – Partly to very cloudy, with localized showers and thunderstorms in the eastern parts in the early hours.
  • Muğla: 13°C, 26°C – Partly to very cloudy, with localized showers and thunderstorms in the eastern parts in the early hours, and across the province tomorrow afternoon. Rainfall is expected to be locally strong tomorrow afternoon.

Mediterranean Region

Partly cloudy, becoming very cloudy over time, with showers and thunderstorms across the region (excluding central Antalya). Rainfall is expected to be locally strong tomorrow afternoon in Isparta and Burdur provinces, and in the Taurus Mountains region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
