Ankara Sees High Turnout at Sacrifice Areas Post-Eid Prayers

Ankara, May 27 – Following the Eid al-Adha prayers, a significant number of citizens gathered at designated sacrifice areas across Ankara to perform their religious duties. The Yakacık Sacrifice Sales and Slaughter Area in the Yenimahalle district experienced particularly high activity from the early morning hours, with long queues of vehicles forming on the roads leading to the site.

Citizens patiently waited their turn to have their sacrificial animals slaughtered. Some, however, opted to perform the sacrifice themselves in available open spaces due to the extensive queues at the official stations. It is anticipated that approximately 900 large cattle and 2,000 small ruminants will be sacrificed at Yakacık’s eight automated slaughter points throughout the Eid period.

Comprehensive Security and Health Measures Implemented

To ensure public order and safety, over 200 police and gendarmerie personnel, alongside municipal police teams, were deployed to the area, which also hosts around 150 animal sales tents. Furthermore, health teams and two ambulances from the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality were on standby to provide immediate assistance in case of any injuries during the sacrifice process.

This comprehensive deployment underscores the authorities’ commitment to facilitating a safe and orderly environment for citizens observing the Eid al-Adha traditions.

High Demand for Sacrifice Services

The large turnout reflects the deep-rooted tradition of sacrifice during Eid al-Adha among the residents of Ankara. Despite the logistical challenges posed by the sheer volume of participants, the coordinated efforts of various public services aimed to manage the crowds and ensure the smooth execution of the religious ritual.

The intense activity observed at the sacrifice areas is a common scene during Eid al-Adha, as families come together to uphold this important religious practice.
