Istanbul Airport (IGA) has announced that four new airlines have commenced scheduled flights from the airport. This strategic expansion is set to bolster Istanbul’s integration with Central Asia and the Middle East, further cementing its role as a pivotal global aviation hub.

Istanbul Airport’s Connectivity Strengthened

With over 100 airline collaborations and access to more than 340 destinations, Istanbul Airport is continuously reinforcing its leadership in global connectivity. The addition of these new carriers is a testament to the airport’s growing importance in the international aviation landscape.

New Routes and Increased Frequencies

The new routes include:

  • Fly Khiva (Uzbekistan): Commenced direct flights on the Termez (TMJ)-Istanbul route with two frequencies per week starting May 30.
  • Varesh Airlines (Iran): Launched scheduled passenger flights on the Tehran (THR)-Istanbul route from June 3.
  • Fly Kish (Iran): Also began scheduled passenger services on the Tehran (THR)-Istanbul route on June 3. These flights are planned for two frequencies per week and are expected to significantly increase passenger capacity on this route.
  • Basra Airlines (Iraq): Scheduled to begin operations on the Baghdad (BGW)-Istanbul route with five frequencies per week from June 12.

These new additions are expected to not only increase passenger traffic but also facilitate stronger economic and cultural ties between Istanbul and the respective regions.

Impact on Regional and Global Travel

The introduction of these new airlines and routes is anticipated to have a positive impact on regional travel, offering more options and flexibility for passengers. It also underscores Istanbul Airport’s commitment to expanding its network and providing seamless travel experiences.

The strategic location of Istanbul, bridging Europe and Asia, makes it an ideal hub for connecting diverse regions. This latest expansion is in line with the airport’s long-term vision to become one of the world’s busiest and most connected airports.

As Istanbul Airport continues to grow its portfolio of airline partners and destinations, it reinforces its status as a vital gateway for international travelers and a key player in the global aviation industry.
