Istanbul Geo-economics Institute to Open Its Doors on July 5th
Istanbul, July 2, 2026 – The Istanbul Geo-economics Institute, established during a period of global economic and financial flux, is set to open its doors on July 5th, 2026, with a ceremony at its Fatih center. The institute aims to contribute to Turkey’s capacity for thought, negotiation, and cooperation in the evolving global landscape.
The institute positions itself as an independent platform for thought and initiative, with the goal of enhancing Turkey’s geo-economic thinking capacity, its vision for financial diplomacy, and its strategic sphere of influence. It plans to develop analyses, publications, and meetings in the areas of geo-economics, geo-finance, financial diplomacy, regional collaborations, strategic investment flows, participation finance, and institutional impact.
Economic Power Redefined Beyond Production
A statement from the Istanbul Geo-economics Institute highlights that in the new era, economic power is no longer solely defined by production capacity. It emphasizes that the management of financial flows, the security of trade routes, the governance of technology infrastructures, the establishment of investment architecture, and the deepening of strategic partnerships are also crucial determinants. The institute will evaluate the opportunities presented by this transformation for Turkey and its immediate geographical region, aiming to create a new platform for thought and dialogue centered in Istanbul.
The opening event is expected to host guests from public institutions, academia, finance, business, civil society, media, and international cooperation circles. During the program, the institute’s founding vision, areas of work, and initial program line-up will be shared with the public.
“To Build a Platform Contributing to Turkey’s Geo-economic Vision”
In its assessment document, the Istanbul Geo-economics Institute stated, “The fundamental dynamics of the global system are being reshaped around flows, corridors, capital movements, standards, and institutional trust. As the Istanbul Geo-economics Institute, our aim is not only to monitor this new era but also to build a platform that contributes to Turkey’s geo-economic vision, develops its financial diplomacy capacity, and strengthens Istanbul as a regional-global negotiation ground.”
As a thought, negotiation, and initiative platform based in Istanbul, the institute aims to reinforce Istanbul’s role as a regional and global dialogue center through publications, policy notes, round table meetings, thematic programs, and national and international collaborations.
