Istanbul, June 29 – Over a thousand swimmers participated in the “I Swim Istanbul, I Meet the Blue” swimming races, held yesterday at Şaşkınbakkal beach. The event, organized by SPOR Istanbul, featured two categories: 1,500 and 3,000 meters, for participants aged 16 and above.
Over 1,000 Swimmers Compete in Istanbul’s Unique Blue Waters
The athletes plunged into the cool waters from the rollerblading track near Şaşkınbakkal, engaging in fierce competition amidst Istanbul’s unique blue seascape. The event adhered to FINA Open Water Rules, with judges overseeing the races. More than a thousand swimmers, aged 16 and over, vied for podium finishes in the two distinct categories.
3,000-Meter Race Kicks Off the Excitement
The day began with the 3,000-meter category, where swimmers pushed their limits by completing two laps of the 1,500-meter course. The top eight finishers in the 3,000-meter general classification were awarded prize money ranging from 18,000 TL to 5,000 TL.
Intense Competition in the 1,500-Meter Category
The second race of the day was the 1,500-meter category, which saw an exciting contest as athletes completed a single lap of the course to reach the finish line. In this category, the top eight swimmers in both age groups (General Classification and Youth (16-24)) received prize money, ranging from 15,000 TL to 4,000 TL.
