Major Drug Bust in Istanbul: 527 kg Seized, 7 Suspects Detained
Istanbul, March 15 – In a significant operation conducted in Istanbul’s Küçükçekmece district, authorities have seized 527 kilograms and 475 grams of illicit drugs. The operation, targeting four trucks, resulted in the detention of seven suspects, including two minors.
The Istanbul Police Department’s Anti-Narcotics Crimes Branch and Intelligence Branch collaborated on the joint effort. Following extensive technical and physical surveillance, authorities determined that drugs sourced from abroad were being transported into Turkey via trucks. The suspects were tracked as they met with buyers, leading to the raid in Küçükçekmece.
Operation Details and Seizures
During the operation, police intercepted the trucks and conducted thorough searches, uncovering the substantial quantity of drugs. The seized narcotics weighed a total of 527 kilograms and 475 grams.
Among the seven individuals taken into custody were two minors. Investigations revealed that the suspects intended to distribute the drugs domestically after receiving the shipment.
