Istanbul Police Seize Massive Synthetic Drug Raw Material, Two Arrested
Istanbul, May 16 – In a significant operation targeting drug traffickers, Istanbul police seized 756 kilograms of raw material that could be used to produce approximately 5.1 million doses of synthetic drugs. Two suspects were apprehended during the raid.
The operation, conducted by the Istanbul Police Department’s Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate, focused on an address in Beykoz and a vehicle in Pendik. The police action was initiated in response to intelligence regarding the manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics.
During the searches conducted at the specified locations, law enforcement officers discovered and confiscated 756 kilograms of raw material. This quantity is estimated to be sufficient for the production of 5.1 million units of synthetic drugs, highlighting the scale of the illicit operation.
Following the successful seizure, two individuals were taken into custody on charges of “manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics or stimulants.” The investigation into the drug network is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover further connections and dismantle the operation entirely.
This latest bust underscores the continuous efforts of Istanbul police to combat drug-related crimes and protect public health and safety. The seized raw material represents a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the region.
