Istanbul Public Transport Fares Increased by 20% for 2026

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) has approved a 20% increase in public transport fares for 2026, following a decision made in February. This adjustment, which was passed by a majority vote of CHP members in the IMM Assembly, will affect all forms of public transportation in Istanbul, including buses, metro, Metrobus, minibuses, ferries, and taxis.

Residents are seeking detailed information on the new pricing for Istanbulkart, full tickets, student cards, Metrobus fares, and the monthly Blue Card subscriptions. The new tariffs, effective from February 16, 2026, will be applied across all public transport lines, including metro, Metrobus, and bus services.

When did the new tariffs come into effect?

The new public transport tariff officially came into effect on Monday, February 16, 2026. This follows the last update on September 15, 2025.

What are the new Istanbul Public Transport Fares for 2026?

The IMM has released the updated price list for 2026, covering Istanbulkart full tickets, student, teacher, and over-60 tariffs, as well as Metrobus and transfer fees.

1. Public Transport Fares:

  • Monthly Istanbulkart Subscriptions:
    • Full Blue Card: 3,298 TL (previously 2,748 TL)
    • Student Subscription: 593 TL (previously 494 TL)
    • IMM Personnel Subscription: 1,618 TL
    • Student Card (30 years and older): 2,968 TL
    • Over 60 Subscription: 2,051 TL
  • Metrobus Fares:
    • 1-stop journey: 30.07 TL (previously 25.06 TL)
    • 34-43+ stops journey: 62.35 TL (previously 51.96 TL)
  • Marmaray (Gebze-Halkalı) Fares: (25.49% increase)
    • Longest distance: 75 TL
    • 1-7 stations: 34 TL (previously 27 TL)
    • 36-43 stations: 74.70 TL (previously 59.76 TL)
  • Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Halkalı Metro Line:
    • 1-3 stations: 34 TL
    • 7-8 stations: 43.54 TL
    • 15-16 stations: 66.54 TL

2. Sea Transport Fares:

  • Üsküdar-Eminönü service: 53.20 TL (previously 44.33 TL)
  • Kadıköy-Eminönü and Kadıköy-Beşiktaş services: 59.28 TL (previously 49.40 TL)
  • Bostancı-Princes’ Islands service: 156.26 TL (previously 130.22 TL)

3. Taxi Fares:

  • Taxi meter opening fee: 65.40 TL (previously 54.50 TL)
  • Distance fee (per km): 43.56 TL (previously 36.30 TL)
  • Time tariff fee (per hour): 544.45 TL (previously 453.71 TL)
  • Short distance fee: 210 TL (previously 175 TL)

4. Minibus Fares:

  • Short distance (‘indi-bindi’) fee:
    • 0-4 km: 39 TL (previously 32.50 TL)
    • 4-7 km: 41 TL (previously 34 TL)
    • 7-11 km: 42 TL (previously 35 TL)
    • 11-15 km: 43 TL (previously 36 TL)
    • 15-20 km: 47 TL (previously 39 TL)
  • Student fee: 25 TL (previously 21 TL)

5. Double Ticket Application:

For public transport vehicles where a double ticket system is applied:

  • Single scan ticket: 84 TL
  • Student ticket: 20.50 TL
  • First transfer fee: 31.27 TL
  • Single-use ticket: 60 TL
  • 10-use ticket: 480 TL
  • 12-use ticket: 580 TL

6. School and Personnel Shuttle Fees:

  • School service fee (0-1 km): 4,051 TL (previously 3,376 TL)
  • Personnel shuttle fee: 2,284.54 TL (previously 1,757 TL)

These new tariffs aim to reflect the increasing operational costs and maintain the quality of public transport services in Istanbul. Passengers are advised to check the updated fees before their journeys.
