Kadıköy Home Invasion: Suspect Caught Fleeing Country After ₺1 Million Robbery
Istanbul, Turkey, March 9, 2026 – A brazen home invasion occurred in Kadıköy, Istanbul, where masked perpetrators tied up a 68-year-old homeowner and her caregiver, making off with an estimated ₺1 million worth of cash and jewelry. One of the suspects was later apprehended at Sabiha Gökçen Airport while attempting to flee the country.
The incident took place on March 5, at approximately 05:50 AM, in a residence located in the Dumlupınar neighborhood of Kadıköy. According to reports, Neriman F.P. (68) and her caregiver, M.K., were in the living room when two unknown masked men forced open the balcony door and entered the home around 04:30 AM.
The Robbery Unfolds: ₺1 Million in Valuables Stolen
The assailants, who inquired about the presence of a safe, proceeded to tie up both Neriman F.P. and M.K., rendering them immobile. They then moved to the bedroom, where they located a safe and stole approximately ₺1 million in cash and jewelry before making their escape.
Following the report of the robbery, authorities initiated an investigation. Operations were carried out on March 5 in the Başakşehir, Bayrampaşa, and Gaziosmanpaşa districts of Istanbul. These efforts led to the apprehension and arrest of a suspect identified as T.A. (35). During searches, police recovered ₺46,900 in cash, along with two gold bracelets and a necklace.
Suspect Intercepted at Airport While Attempting to Flee
Further investigation revealed that another individual, F.A. (25), was in communication with the arrested suspect. F.A. was subsequently apprehended on March 8 at Sabiha Gökçen Airport while attempting to depart the country. Both suspects have been transferred to judicial authorities by the Robbery Bureau teams.
The quick response and diligent efforts of the police led to the swift identification and capture of the individuals involved in this significant home invasion. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to recover all stolen items and ensure justice is served.
