Keçiören Municipality Announces Record Wage Increase for Employees

Ankara, February 4 – Keçiören Municipality has announced a significant wage increase for its company personnel for the year 2026. The announcement was made by Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan, following the signing of a collective labor agreement between the municipality and the Hizmet İş Union. This move aims to improve the financial well-being of municipal workers.

Significant Salary Adjustments

Under the new agreement, company workers will receive an average wage increase of 30.9%. This adjustment will see the lowest salary rise from 36,451 TL to 47,304 TL. The highest salary, on the other hand, will increase from 52,231 TL to 68,369 TL. These figures demonstrate a substantial commitment from the municipality to support its workforce.

Holiday Bonuses for Employees

In addition to the salary increases, Mayor Özarslan also announced that employees would receive holiday bonuses. A bonus of 4,000 TL will be distributed before the Ramadan Bayram, and a further 6,000 TL will be given before the Kurban Bayram. These bonuses are intended to provide additional financial relief and festive cheer to the municipal staff.

Celebratory Ceremony and Worker Enthusiasm

The announcement was met with great enthusiasm during a ceremony held in front of the municipality building. Workers celebrated the news with traditional dances, including halay, reflecting their joy and appreciation for the new wage rates. Mayor Özarslan joined in the celebrations, sharing in the happiness of his employees.

The program began with a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem. Attendees included Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan, Hizmet İş Union Secretary General Mehmet Yeşilyurt, deputy mayors, council members, union representatives, and municipal workers.

Mayor Özarslan’s Address: “Serving the Public, Serving God”

In his speech, Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan emphasized that the municipality stretched its resources to implement an average 30.9% wage increase. He stated, “We work with the understanding that serving the public is serving God. All my personnel are my companions, my brothers and sisters. No one is superior to anyone else.” This statement highlighted his commitment to equality and support for all municipal employees.

Union’s Gratitude to Mayor Özarslan

Mehmet Yeşilyurt, Secretary General of the Hizmet İş Union, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Özarslan for the significant wage increase. Yeşilyurt noted that since taking office, Mayor Özarslan has forged strong bonds with both citizens and municipal employees. He praised Özarslan’s sincere and fraternal approach, emphasizing his consideration for workers’ rights.

“If our Mayor makes us happy, we must also make the people of Keçiören happy. May Allah preserve our unity and solidarity,” said Yeşilyurt. He also conveyed greetings from the Union’s General President, Mahmut Arslan.

This comprehensive wage increase and the provision of holiday bonuses underscore Keçiören Municipality’s dedication to its employees’ welfare, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring fair compensation.
