Keçiören Municipality ‘Gave Power to Sound’ for Individuals with Special Needs

Ankara, Turkey, March 3 – Keçiören Municipality, as part of its international collaborations, hosted a meaningful cultural and artistic event for individuals with special needs. The ‘Give Power to Sound’ project was brought to life in partnership with Balkan Youth Activism (B&A), System&Generation, and the Turkey Foundation for the Education and Solidarity of the Disabled (ÖZEV).

The event, held at the Yunus Emre Culture and Art Center, saw a large turnout from citizens. Soner Gültekin, Institution Manager of the Turkey Foundation for the Education and Solidarity of the Disabled (ÖZEV), emphasized the importance of international unity and solidarity.

“Today, the performance our friends will stage is not just a show. You will witness a concrete demonstration of intercultural dialogue with our friends from the Mediterranean region, the Balkans, and Europe,” said Gültekin. “We have friends from Azerbaijan, France, Greece, Morocco, and Albania. We will carry out this project here with them. I extend my sincere thanks to our friends who came from abroad, our guests present here, and our disabled friends and their families for coming.”

The program, which included individuals with special needs from various countries, featured colorful scenes with the universal language of music and dance. Throughout the performance, disabled individuals showcased their talents by singing and dancing. Participants from abroad also contributed an international dimension to the event with performances reflecting their own cultures. The performances, accompanied by applause, created emotional moments for the audience. As part of the project, young people experienced cultural interaction by learning songs and dances from different countries, and also found an opportunity to boost their self-confidence through the healing and unifying power of art.

Cultural Interaction and Self-Confidence Boosted
