Tensions are mounting within the Republican People’s Party (CHP) following a recent court decision, with all eyes now on former CHP Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is scheduled to hold a public meeting in Ankara this Saturday, May 31. Speculation is rife within party circles that Kılıçdaroğlu will deliver crucial messages concerning both the ongoing judicial process and internal party debates.

Kılıçdaroğlu’s ‘Purification’ Call and Corruption Allegations

One of the most discussed topics in Ankara’s political corridors is Kılıçdaroğlu’s recurring call for ‘purification’ within the party. Party sources suggest that he might elaborate on the specifics of this call for the first time. It is widely believed that his statements regarding allegations of money laundering and corruption could ignite new discussions and controversies within the CHP.

Focus on Saturday’s Meeting

Kılıçdaroğlu spent the third day of the Eid holiday at his Ankara residence, continuing his work throughout the day. It is understood that he hosted guests at his home during this period. He is expected to visit the CHP General Headquarters on Saturday to meet with party members and citizens as part of his public gathering program.

Sources within the party indicate that this meeting will transcend a mere Eid greeting event. Kılıçdaroğlu is expected to deliver clear messages regarding the recent disputes and developments within the CHP.

Growing Debate over Group Meetings

Meanwhile, a new crisis is brewing within the CHP concerning its group meetings. While there were claims that the current CHP Chairman would hold a group meeting and deliver a speech on Tuesday, Kılıçdaroğlu sent a letter to Members of Parliament with notable statements.

In his letter, Kılıçdaroğlu stated, “I have not yet made a decision on which day the group meeting will be held,” emphasizing, “Unless the necessary notifications are made under my instruction, the CHP group in the Parliament will not be held.” This statement has led to a fresh divergence of opinions within the party.

Eid Visits Attract Attention

It has also been revealed that some former CHP figures visited Kılıçdaroğlu during the Eid period. Former CHP Members of Parliament and visited Kılıçdaroğlu at his residence. Following the visit, Kılıçdaroğlu was seen greeting party members who were waiting in his garden outside his house.

Postponement of Party Council Meeting

The CHP’s Party Council and High Disciplinary Board meetings, originally scheduled for June 1, have been postponed to a later date. The reason cited for the postponement is that official notifications have not yet reached the board members who returned to duty after the court decision.

Party sources suggest that due to these developments, the critical period within the CHP will continue for a few more days.

Preparations at General Headquarters Complete

It is also rumored that Kılıçdaroğlu will open a separate discussion on the allegations and bring his ‘purification’ call to the forefront with stronger expressions. How Kılıçdaroğlu will be received at the CHP General Headquarters, which he will visit for the first time after the nullity decision, and how his messages will resonate within the party remain subjects of intense curiosity.
