Wife Murdered in Front of Children in Istanbul’s Arnavutköy
Istanbul, February 18 – A shocking incident of domestic violence unfolded in the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul, where a 32-year-old woman, Filiz Ş., was reportedly stabbed to death by her husband, Kıyasettin Ş., in front of their three young children. The tragedy occurred at approximately 1:00 AM on February 18, just two days after the family had moved into their new residence on Sokullu Mehmet Street in İslambey Mahallesi.
According to initial reports, an argument erupted between Kıyasettin Ş. and Filiz Ş. for reasons yet to be determined. The dispute quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, culminating in Kıyasettin Ş. allegedly stabbing his wife multiple times while their children, all under the age of 12, were present in the home.
Neighbors Alerted by Children’s Cries for Help
Neighbors were alerted to the horrific events by sounds of a heated argument followed by screams. One of the children was reportedly seen on the balcony, crying out for help. Upon receiving reports from neighbors, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics confirmed that Filiz Ş. had succumbed to her injuries.
Kıyasettin Ş. reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident. However, he surrendered to the police a short time later. Security camera footage from a nearby business captured the suspect calmly walking away from the building after the alleged murder.
Children Taken into Protective Custody
Police officers took the three children into protective custody and transported them to the police station. Crime scene investigation teams conducted a thorough examination of the apartment. Following the prosecutor’s investigation, Filiz Ş.’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
Kıyasettin Ş. is currently being held in police custody, and legal proceedings are underway. The exact motive behind the murder remains under investigation.

Necati Aydın, a resident of the neighborhood, stated, “He killed his wife and surrendered to the police. They had moved here only two days ago. I don’t know what their problem was. I saw the three children; the police took them away.”
Another neighbor, Mehmet Aydın, provided a chilling account: “I went out to the balcony and heard the children’s cries. Then I rushed over. When I arrived, he was downstairs, calmly walking away from here. I didn’t know he had committed this act. When I entered the house, the woman was lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He then called his landlord and said, ‘Brother, I’ve done something like this, I’m going to the police station to surrender.'”
