MEB Organizes Online Professional Development for Teachers

Ankara, June 18 – The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has decided to conduct the ‘2026 June Period Professional Development Seminar’ for teachers online. The seminars, originally scheduled for June 29-30, will now be accessible through the Teacher Information Network (ÖBA) platform.

According to a statement released by the Ministry, the 2025-2026 academic year in schools will officially conclude on Friday, June 26, with the distribution of report cards. Following this, the professional development activities for June 29-30 will transition to an online format to accommodate teachers across the country.

Flexible Completion Deadline for Educators

Teachers and administrators participating in the ‘2026 June Period Professional Development Seminar’ will have the flexibility to complete the program until 23:59 on Sunday, July 5. This extended deadline aims to ensure that all educators can engage with the training content at their convenience.

The seminar curriculum is designed to address contemporary issues relevant to the educational landscape. It will feature educational content focused on two primary themes: ‘Independence (Addiction) and Family’ and ‘Digital Age and Family’. These topics are crucial for equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to support students and families in an evolving societal context.

Addressing Key Societal Challenges

The decision to focus on ‘Independence (Addiction) and Family’ underscores the MEB’s commitment to addressing critical social issues that impact students’ well-being and academic performance. By providing teachers with insights into addiction and family dynamics, the Ministry aims to empower them to identify and support students facing such challenges.

Similarly, the ‘Digital Age and Family’ module reflects the growing importance of digital literacy and responsible technology use. In an era where digital platforms play an increasingly significant role in daily life, this training will help educators guide students and their families in navigating the complexities of the digital world, promoting safe and constructive online engagement.

Ensuring Accessibility and Continuity

The shift to an online format for these seminars highlights the MEB’s adaptability and commitment to ensuring continuous professional development for its teaching staff, even amidst changing circumstances. The use of the ÖBA platform facilitates broad accessibility, allowing teachers from various regions to participate without the need for physical travel.

This initiative is part of the MEB’s broader strategy to enhance the professional competencies of teachers, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the demands of modern education and provide comprehensive support to their students. The online format not only offers flexibility but also promotes a more sustainable approach to professional learning.

The Ministry expects a high level of participation in these online seminars, emphasizing their importance in fostering a well-informed and resilient teaching community capable of addressing the diverse needs of students and contributing positively to their development.
