Ankara, March 3 – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conducted a visit to the Consular Call Center located in Ankara’s Kızılay district. During his visit, Minister Fidan inspected the facilities and received detailed information regarding the center’s ongoing activities. He also listened in on several calls being handled by the center’s operators, gaining firsthand insight into their daily work.

Consular Call Center: A Lifeline for Turkish Citizens Abroad

In a statement made during his visit, Minister Fidan emphasized the critical role the call center plays in serving Turkish citizens across the globe. “We are currently at the Consular Call Center. Our colleagues here are active 24/7. The requests and questions of our citizens located all over the world are being answered here,” Fidan stated.

He further elaborated on the operational efficiency of the center, noting, “Especially our colleagues in the field missions and those at the center manage and respond to these calls through a dedicated software.” This integrated approach ensures that citizens receive timely and accurate information, regardless of their location.

Addressing a Surge in Demand: The Impact of Regional Conflicts

Minister Fidan highlighted the intense activity at the center, particularly in recent times. “Our colleagues respond to calls in many languages. There are many requests, especially in recent days, there are a large number of questions and requests from our citizens in the adjacent region due to the Iran war,” he explained.

The center acts as a crucial first point of contact, where these inquiries are received, directed, and escalated to higher authorities if further action is required. “These are taken here, directions are given, and if there are further steps to be taken, they are forwarded to higher authorities, and the situation is immediately addressed,” Fidan added, underscoring the center’s rapid response capabilities.

24/7 Service for Turks Living Abroad

The Consular Call Center operates under the General Directorate of Turks Living Abroad and Related Services, which is committed to providing these essential services round the clock. Minister Fidan took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the dedicated staff. “I would like to thank my colleagues here in your presence,” he concluded, acknowledging their tireless efforts.

The visit by Minister Fidan underscores the Turkish government’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad, especially during periods of increased international tension or crisis. The Consular Call Center serves as a vital link, ensuring that Turkish nationals receive the assistance and information they need, when they need it most.

The center’s ability to handle a high volume of diverse inquiries in multiple languages demonstrates its robust infrastructure and the professionalism of its staff. This continuous operation is particularly important for citizens facing complex situations or living in remote areas without easy access to consular services.

The ongoing efforts to streamline communication and improve response times through advanced software solutions reflect a modern approach to consular services, aiming to enhance citizen satisfaction and provide effective support in an ever-changing global landscape.
