Nallıhan Municipality Supports Farmers with 50% Subsidized Sainfoin Seeds

Ankara, February 26 – The Nallıhan Municipality in Ankara has initiated a program to support local farmers by distributing sainfoin seeds with a 50% subsidy. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on farmers and stimulate agricultural production in the region.

The distribution ceremony was held yesterday, February 25, 2026, in front of the Nallıhan Municipality building. The event saw the participation of prominent local figures, including Nallıhan Mayor Ertunç Güngör, CHP District Chairman Mustafa Sarıkaya, Nallıhan Deputy Mayor Nurettin Özen, and Abdülfettah Güngör, Director of the Family Life Center, alongside numerous farmers.

Mayor Güngör Emphasizes Commitment to Farmers

During his address at the ceremony, Mayor Ertunç Güngör highlighted the municipality’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community. “We have implemented the sainfoin seed distribution with a 50% subsidy to reduce the cost burden on our farmers and encourage production,” Güngör stated. He further expressed his hope that “every seed sown in the soil will contribute to the fertility, economy, and future of our district,” extending his gratitude to all attendees.

Reducing Costs and Boosting Production

The program is a direct response to the challenges faced by farmers, particularly the rising costs of agricultural inputs. By subsidizing sainfoin seeds, the municipality aims to make it more affordable for farmers to cultivate this valuable forage crop, which is known for its benefits to soil health and livestock feed. Sainfoin is a perennial legume that can improve soil structure, fix nitrogen, and provide high-quality feed for animals, thereby supporting sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing the economic viability of farming in Nallıhan.

Community and Economic Impact

The initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy by increasing agricultural output and reducing operational costs for farmers. This support is crucial for maintaining the vitality of the rural community and ensuring food security within the district. The presence of various local officials at the ceremony underscores the importance placed on agricultural development and farmer welfare by the Nallıhan Municipality.

The Nallıhan Municipality continues to explore and implement various strategies to assist its agricultural sector, recognizing the vital role farmers play in the region’s economy and overall well-being. This latest program is a testament to their ongoing efforts to foster a supportive environment for farming and sustainable development.
