Jet Ski Accident Claims One Life in Istanbul
Istanbul, May 10 – A tragic jet ski accident off Yalikoy Beach in Çatalca, Istanbul, resulted in the death of one individual and minor injuries to another. The incident occurred on Friday evening, prompting a rapid response from various emergency services.
According to reports, citizens enjoying the sea at Yalikoy Beach noticed a jet ski overturning in the open waters. An immediate distress call was made, leading to the deployment of health, gendarmerie, fire, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), and underwater rescue teams to the accident site.
Rescue Efforts and Recovery
Upon arrival, rescue teams quickly located and pulled I.K.G. from the water. I.K.G. sustained minor injuries and was promptly transported to a local hospital. Medical officials have confirmed that I.K.G.’s life is not in danger.
However, the search for the second person, identified as Y.E.D., continued for approximately four hours. Despite extensive efforts by the specialized teams, Y.E.D.’s lifeless body was eventually recovered from the sea. The exact cause of the capsizing and subsequent drowning is currently under investigation.
