ISTANBUL, (DHA) – Portugal and the Democratic Republic of Congo played to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group K.
Portugal and DR Congo Share Points in Group K Opener
The match, held at NRG Stadium, saw Portugal start strongly, taking the lead in the 6th minute with a goal from Joao Neves. However, the Democratic Republic of Congo increased their pressure towards the end of the first half, and Yoane Wissa scored an equalizer in the 45+5th minute, sending both teams into halftime with a 1-1 score.
Neither team managed to capitalize on their opportunities in the second half, and the match concluded with no further goals, resulting in a 1-1 tie.
