Ankara, December 23 – A private jet that departed from Ankara Esenboğa Airport yesterday evening lost radar contact, causing alarm. The incident, which involved a Falcon 50 type business jet with tail number 9H-DFJ, occurred shortly after its 8:10 PM takeoff en route to Tripoli. Contact was lost at approximately 8:52 PM, and a loud sound was subsequently reported near the Haymana district.
Loss of Contact and Emergency Notification
The jet, carrying Libyan Chief of Staff General Muhammed Ali Ahmed AL-Haddad and five other passengers, experienced an interruption in communication with air traffic control. According to an official statement from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, an emergency landing notification was received from the aircraft near Haymana before all contact was lost.
“This evening at 8:10 PM, a Falcon 50 type business jet with tail number 9H-DFJ, which departed from Ankara Esenboğa Airport to Tripoli, lost contact at 8:52 PM. An emergency landing notification was received from the said aircraft near Haymana; however, contact with the aircraft could not be re-established afterwards. There are five passengers on board the aircraft, including the Libyan Chief of Staff, General Mr. Muhammed Ali Ahmed AL-Haddad. The public will be informed of developments,” Yerlikaya stated.
Search and Rescue Operations Initiated
Following the loss of contact and the report of a loud sound, security and search teams were immediately dispatched to the Haymana area.
