Sultanbeyli Invests in Education: Groundbreaking Ceremony for Three New Schools

Istanbul, Turkey – Sultanbeyli, a district in Istanbul, has taken a significant step towards strengthening its educational infrastructure with the groundbreaking ceremony for three new schools. The event, held yesterday, April 30, 2026, was attended by prominent figures including Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş, and AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir.

Mayor Ali Tombaş highlighted the importance of these investments for the children’s education, emphasizing the district’s young and dynamic population. He stated, “Today, we are not just laying the foundations of school buildings. We are laying a strong foundation for the dreams of our children, the futures of our youth, the hopes of our families, and the future of Sultanbeyli. Each of these schools will be a home for many children who will grow with knowledge, effort, and love.”

The new schools include a primary school and a middle school in Mehmet Akif Neighborhood, and another primary school in Akşemsettin Neighborhood. These projects are part of a broader initiative to improve educational conditions, increase physical capacity, reduce class sizes, and enhance the overall quality of education in Sultanbeyli.

Transition to Full-Day Education Targeted

Governor Davut Gül announced that the new projects aim to eliminate dual-shift education in Sultanbeyli and transition to a full-day schooling system. He also indicated that the number of schools would increase further in the coming years with the allocation of new land for construction. “We will convert dual-shift education to full-day education throughout Istanbul, including Sultanbeyli. If land continues to be produced, within two to two and a half years, we will build approximately ten to twelve more schools, enabling every child to receive full-day education,” said Governor Gül.

AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir praised Mayor Tombaş’s efforts, noting that more than half of the promised projects have already been realized. He affirmed that investments in education and sports would continue to increase, providing better educational environments and social opportunities for the youth.

Community and Official Support

Mayor Tombaş expressed gratitude to Governor Gül, the District Governor, and the national education community for their strong support in realizing these projects. He underscored that the educational investments would not only enhance the physical capacity but also elevate the quality of education in the district.

Governor Gül further detailed plans for Istanbul, including the construction of 100 kindergartens, 100 Quran courses for 4-6 year olds, 100 nurseries, 100 indoor sports halls, and 100 astroturf pitches. He assured that Sultanbeyli would receive a significant share of these investments, prioritizing the needs of students and local communities.

The officials collectively expressed their commitment to fostering an environment where children and youth can thrive, grow confident, and look to the future with hope, free from negative influences. This comprehensive investment in education is seen as a crucial step towards a brighter future for Sultanbeyli and its residents.
