Suspect Apprehended in Eyüpsultan ‘Glass Bottle’ Murder Case
Istanbul, March 25, 2026 – A significant development has emerged in the “glass bottle” murder case in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, with the apprehension of the primary suspect, Muhammed K. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 1, in the Alibeyköy neighborhood, involved an argument between two groups consuming alcohol in a park, reportedly sparked by a “side glance” dispute.
The altercation quickly escalated into a fight, during which Muhammed K. allegedly attacked Hüseyin Koç (34) with a broken bottle, causing fatal injuries. Police teams, responding to the notification, found Hüseyin Koç, Hüseyin Özdemir, and Ahmet Abdülgani injured at the scene. Hüseyin Koç, despite all medical interventions at the hospital, succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation and Apprehension
The Homicide Bureau initiated an investigation into the incident, determining that the dispute began with a “side glance” argument between the two groups. Following the initial confrontation, the argument turned into a physical altercation. Police subsequently detained four individuals from the group that fled the scene.
During the ongoing investigation, it was determined that Muhammed K. was the fugitive suspect who committed the murder using a broken bottle during the fight. Police launched an operation to apprehend Muhammed K., conducting a raid on a house the previous night where he was taken into custody. Muhammed K. was then brought to the Homicide Bureau for questioning.
Suspect’s Statement and Legal Proceedings
During his interrogation, the suspect reportedly stated that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and could not fully recall his actions. After completing the necessary procedures at the Public Order Branch Directorate, Muhammed K. was referred to the courthouse.
The incident highlights concerns regarding public safety and alcohol consumption in public spaces. The rapid response and diligent investigation by the police have led to a swift apprehension in this tragic case.
