Suspect Detained in Sancaktepe for Promoting Drug Use on Social Media
Istanbul, April 9 – A suspect has been taken into custody in Istanbul’s Sancaktepe district for allegedly promoting drug use and sharing illicit content on social media platforms. The individual, identified by initials M.A.D. (19), was apprehended yesterday following an operation conducted by the Istanbul Police Department.
Joint Operation by Narcotics and Cybercrime Units
The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Narcotics Crimes Branch and the Cybercrime Branch of the Istanbul Police Department. Authorities initiated an investigation after identifying suspicious social media posts that appeared to encourage the use of illicit substances. These posts were treated as intelligence reports, prompting a technical and physical surveillance operation.
Following the extensive investigation, police teams successfully identified the individual responsible for the online content as M.A.D. (19). The suspect was subsequently apprehended during an operation carried out in Sancaktepe yesterday, April 8, 2026.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
