Suspects Apprehended in Armed Attack on Director Seren Yüce in Istanbul

Istanbul, January 8 – Five suspects have been apprehended in connection with an armed attack on director Seren Yüce (51) in the Şişli district of Istanbul. Yüce was shot in the leg after opening his door to an individual impersonating a cargo delivery person. The attack, which occurred on December 30, 2025, is believed to have been an act of extortion.

Details of the Attack and Initial Investigation

The incident took place in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi when director Seren Yüce answered his door to a person wearing a motorcycle helmet, who claimed to be delivering a package. Yüce was then shot in the leg and hospitalized, while the assailant fled the scene. Police investigators found an empty shell casing and a pair of gloves believed to belong to the attacker.

Following the incident, Seren Yüce filed a complaint, stating that he and his wife had received threats prior to the attack. Recalling the moment of the shooting, Yüce said, “They rang the doorbell saying ‘your cargo has arrived.’ When I opened it, there was a person with a motorcycle helmet. When I asked where my cargo was, he tried to pull something from his waist, saying, ‘Wait a minute, I’m getting it out.’ He struggled for about a minute to pull something out. At the end of this period, when I saw a gun in his hand, I tried to close the door. However, he fired a shot and hit me. Then he fled.”

First Wave of Arrests

The Homicide Bureau launched an investigation, utilizing security camera footage to track the suspects. It was determined that the suspects fled on a motorcycle with a changed license plate. Police identified the true license plate and, in their initial operation, arrested T.K. (27), who was driving the motorcycle, and U.G. (36), who provided the motorcycle. A unlicensed handgun and ammunition were seized. Following their statements, T.K. was remanded in custody, while U.G. was released on judicial control.

Gang Busted in Second Operation

In a second operation conducted by the Homicide Bureau in Marmara Ereğli, Tekirdağ, B.Y. (27), who fired the weapon and injured director Seren Yüce, was apprehended. Also arrested were F.F.K. (32) and M.R.T. (30), who are believed to have organized the attack. During this operation, three handguns, four magazines, and 21 rounds of ammunition were seized. The investigation revealed that the order for the attack was given from abroad, indicating the involvement of an organized crime group.

The suspects, after completing their procedures at the Public Order Branch Directorate, were referred to the courthouse. Security camera footage showing the suspects fleeing after the armed attack was also released.
