TFTR Conducts Strategic Visits in Ankara to Strengthen Rehabilitation Services

Ankara, January 11, 2026 – The Turkish Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association (TFTR) Board of Directors undertook a series of strategic visits in Ankara to share their assessments and proposals for strengthening rehabilitation services. The TFTR delegation initiated their program with a visit to Anıtkabir, paying respects to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

During their visit, the delegation met with AK Party Kahramanmaraş Deputy İrfan Karatutlu at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). The discussions focused on the on-the-ground needs and proposed solutions within the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

“Rehabilitation Strengthens, Health Tourism Deepens”

The TFTR management also paid a visit to the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, at his office. The meeting addressed the strategic role of rehabilitation within the health system, patient access, the reinforcement of a multidisciplinary approach, and the growing potential of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) in health tourism. The TFTR management conveyed the message that strengthening rehabilitation will deepen health tourism. Additionally, the delegation met with the General Director of Health Services, Uzm. Dr. Hasan Basri Velioğlu, to discuss the development perspective of rehabilitation services.

“If Rehabilitation Strengthens, the Health System Wins”

Associate Professor Dr. İbrahim Halil Erdem, President of TFTR, emphasized the holistic nature of PMR. “Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is not just about treatment; it is a holistic health service that enhances an individual’s participation in daily life and functionality. Strengthening rehabilitation increases patient access, disseminates a multidisciplinary approach, and elevates service standards,” Dr. Erdem stated. He further noted that TFTR would continue to strengthen its cooperation with public institutions based on a scientific approach and public interest.

The visits underscore TFTR’s commitment to advancing rehabilitation services in Turkey, highlighting their crucial role in both public health and the burgeoning health tourism sector. The discussions held in Ankara are expected to pave the way for further initiatives aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of rehabilitation care across the country.

The strategic engagements in Ankara are part of TFTR’s broader efforts to ensure that PMR is recognized as an indispensable component of the national healthcare system, contributing significantly to patient recovery and overall societal well-being.
