Ankara, Turkey, January 29, 2026 – Uzbekistan President Shavkat Miramanovich Mirziyoyev is scheduled to arrive in Ankara today, January 29, 2026, to participate in the 4th Meeting of the Turkey-Uzbekistan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (YDBİK). The meeting will be co-chaired by President Mirziyoyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Preparatory Meetings Lay Groundwork for High-Level Talks
This high-level visit follows a series of preparatory meetings held in Ankara. On January 20, the Fourth Meeting of the Turkey-Uzbekistan Joint Strategic Planning Group was convened, co-chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Uzbek Foreign Minister Bahtiyor Saidov. The same day, the first meeting of the Turkey-Uzbekistan 4+4 Mechanism took place, involving Foreign Minister Fidan, National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, and MİT Head İbrahim Kalın, along with their Uzbek counterparts.
Over 10 Agreements Expected Across Key Sectors
During the YDBİK meeting, more than 10 agreements are anticipated to be signed between the two countries. These agreements will cover a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, health, culture, standards, energy, textiles, transportation, and education. The comprehensive nature of these agreements underscores the deepening strategic partnership between Turkey and Uzbekistan.
Online Ceremonies to Mark Significant Bilateral Projects
The visit will also feature two online ceremonies highlighting key bilateral projects. One ceremony will mark the official opening of the ‘Uzbekistan Neighborhood’ in Hatay, a region significantly affected by the February 6 earthquakes. This neighborhood was constructed with the support of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is home to over 20,000 Uzbek citizens. The second ceremony will involve the groundbreaking for the first Uzbek School abroad, intended for children of the Uzbek diaspora in Istanbul. These projects demonstrate the strong humanitarian and cultural ties between the two nations.
The visit of President Mirziyoyev is expected to further solidify the strategic cooperation between Turkey and Uzbekistan, fostering enhanced collaboration across various domains and strengthening the bonds between their peoples.
