Ongoing Water Supply Issues in Ankara

The current water cuts come after a period of prolonged interruptions in Ankara, which began with a pipeline malfunction on the Kesikköprü line on September 29, 2025. Local Businesses Express Frustration

Ankara tradesmen affected by the water cuts have voiced their strong dissatisfaction with the situation. İbrahim Korkmaz, a women’s hairdresser in Saray Neighborhood, Pursaklar district, described the severe impact on his business. “We are experiencing severe water shortages. You dye a customer’s hair, you need to wash it, and the water is cut off. You rush to the markets, buy water, and try to heat it to wash the hair. There’s also the risk of damaging the hair in the process.”

Korkmaz recounted an incident where a customer’s hair was damaged due to a water cut during a dyeing process. “You need to intervene immediately, but you can’t wash it on time because by the time you prepare the water, the hair is already damaged,” he stated, adding that his customer base has decreased due to the frequent outages.

Fellow women’s hairdresser Köksal Dedeoğlu echoed similar sentiments, detailing his ordeal. “Our water has been cut for 4 days, and it just came back today. For 4 days, when a customer came in, we would start the service, I’d dye their hair, and then when I tried to wash it, I’d find the water was cut. We try to serve customers by heating water bought in five-liter bottles from the market. Now we have water, but we have no customers. This is the extent of our hardship. In terms of cleanliness and hygiene, it’s a disaster.”

Dedeoğlu called for a resolution to the water cut problem, stating, “We often have to turn away customers if we don’t have water. Our biggest problem is the sudden water cuts when we start a process and can’t wash our customers’ hair.”
