Ankara, December 23 – The Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) has announced that several districts in the capital will experience temporary water outages between December 23 and December 24, 2025. The decision comes as a direct consequence of the persistent drought affecting the region, leading to occasional disruptions in the water supply system.
Temporary Water Cuts Across Ankara Neighborhoods
According to the official statement released by ASKİ, the temporary water cuts will primarily affect the following neighborhoods: Dodurga, Üniversiteliler, İşçi Blokları, Çiğdem, Mustafa Kemal, Kızılırmak, Ahlatlıbel, Söğütözü, and Çukurambar. The outages are scheduled to occur intermittently from 11:00 PM on December 23 until 10:00 AM on December 24.
Authorities have cautioned residents that following the restoration of water supply, it may take some time for water to reach areas situated at higher elevations. This is a common occurrence after such interruptions and residents are advised to be patient.
Capacity Enhancement Work at Çamlıdere Dam
In a related development, ASKİ also reported that significant capacity enhancement works are currently underway at the Çamlıdere Dam’s water intake structure. These efforts are being conducted without interruption and are expected to be completed within a few days. The aim of these improvements is to substantially mitigate similar water supply disruptions in the future, ensuring a more stable and reliable water service for Ankara’s residents.
The ongoing drought has put a strain on water resources, making such temporary measures necessary to manage the available supply effectively. ASKİ emphasizes the importance of water conservation during this period and urges all citizens to use water responsibly.
