The “Code, Transform, Sustain: Smart Ideas for the Capital, Safe Tomorrows” themed 2026 TechAnkara Maker Program Inter-Middle School Makeathlon Technology and Coding Competition, organized under the coordination of the Ankara Development Agency, has successfully concluded. Held with the support of the Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education and hosted by Teknopark Ankara, the event’s education and organization processes were managed by Tusun Academy.
Program Aims to Foster Early Technology Engagement
Designed for middle school students, the program aimed to introduce young people to a technology-based production culture at an early age, develop their problem-solving and algorithmic thinking skills, and encourage them to generate innovative ideas. Participants developed projects in areas such as block-based coding, robotic applications, algorithmic thinking, and smart system design. The competition served as a platform for participants to showcase both their technical skills and their teamwork and creative thinking abilities.
Importance of Early Engagement Highlighted
Duhan Kalkan, Secretary-General of the Ankara Development Agency, and Veli Karakuş, Deputy Director of the Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education, attended the event. In his closing speech, Kalkan emphasized the importance of involving young people in technology-oriented production processes at an early age, stating that such organizations significantly contribute to innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
The program concluded after evaluations by participating institutional representatives and the presentation of awards to the winning teams. The 2026 TechAnkara Maker Program Makeathon Competition, which has become an important meeting point for technology and innovation in Ankara, aims to develop young people’s technology production skills and contribute to the entrepreneurship ecosystem. The event, marked by high participation and exciting moments, once again highlighted the technological potential of the capital. At the end of the competition, awards found their owners, and all participants left the organization having gained valuable experience. The TechAnkara Maker Program is expected to continue to grow with similar events in the coming years.
