ANKARA, (DHA) – The Zero Waste Forum will be held in Istanbul from June 5-7. The High-Level Session of Energy and Natural Resources Ministers, which will be held within the scope of the forum, will be hosted by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, with energy efficiency being the main agenda item.
Zero Waste Forum to Convene Global Leaders in Istanbul
According to a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Zero Waste Forum will be organized under the patronage of Emine Erdoğan, President of the United Nations Zero Waste High-Level Personalities Advisory Board and Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation. The forum, themed ‘The Road to Antalya: Zero Waste as Climate Action’, will gather government representatives, ministers, mayors, business leaders, academics, and non-governmental organizations from around the world.
Renewable Energy Investments on the Agenda
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar will host the High-Level Session on Energy and Natural Resources Ministers, which will be held with the theme of ‘Energy Efficiency and Resource Management for a Sustainable Future’. The session will address various topics including energy efficiency, renewable energy investments, circular economy practices, integration of waste into energy processes, resource efficiency, and energy security.
Minister Bayraktar: We Will Shape Concrete Solutions
In his statement on the matter, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, “We are hosting a global summit in Istanbul to protect our common home, the world. At the Zero Waste Forum, participants at the ministerial level, international decision-makers, and sector representatives will come together. With the high-level session themed ‘Energy Efficiency and Resource Management for a Sustainable Future’ to be held on the sidelines of the forum, we will collectively shape concrete solutions for increasing energy efficiency and transitioning to clean energy.”
A Roadmap to Emerge
Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Foundation and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion, stated, “Energy efficiency and zero waste are two inseparable topics. A roadmap will emerge at the Zero Waste Forum, which we will organize as the Zero Waste Foundation from June 5-7, under the patronage and leadership of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan. We want to make Istanbul the center of zero waste and energy efficiency issues in the world.”
