Ankara, February 18 – Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak has unveiled the ambitious ‘Future Generation Studies 2030 (GENÇ2030)’ project, with a core objective to cultivate 100,000 artificial intelligence entrepreneurs by the year 2030. Minister Bak stated that this initiative would empower young people to transcend their roles as technology consumers and become producers and pioneers of the future.
GENÇ2030 Project: Fostering a New Generation of Innovators
The announcement was made during the 75th ‘Youth in the Ministry’ program, coordinated by the General Directorate of Youth Services. Over two days, from February 17 to 18, a total of 400 young individuals from Batman, Kars, Amasya, Yozgat, and Şanlıurfa were hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. These participants engaged in visits to significant historical and cultural sites in Ankara before attending the introductory program for the ‘GENÇ2030’ project.
Addressing the attendees, Minister Bak emphasized the remarkable achievements of Turkish engineers in various projects, citing examples such as the KAAN project at TUSAŞ and Turkey’s leading position in unmanned aerial vehicle technology. He attributed these successes to the ‘National Technology Move’ spearheaded by President Erdoğan, which has fostered a burgeoning interest in technology among the youth, as evidenced by the enthusiasm observed at TEKNOFEST events.
Minister Bak highlighted the role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which operates 570 youth centers across the country. These centers offer digital literacy programs, including computer workshops, and ‘Deneyap’ workshops conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Technology. He expressed immense satisfaction with the enthusiasm of the children participating in these initiatives and the positive contributions they are making.
Empowering Youth as Digital Actors
Elaborating on the ‘GENÇ2030’ project, Minister Bak reiterated its central aim: to train 100,000 artificial intelligence entrepreneurs by 2030. He stressed that this endeavor would enable young people to become active participants and leaders in the technological landscape.
“We will be actors. We will be in the field. A place you don’t go to is not yours, a place you are not in is not yours, and a place where you don’t contribute, where you don’t convey the fire and energy within you, is not yours,” Minister Bak passionately declared. He articulated the aspiration to channel the energy of young people through the ‘GENÇ2030’ project, fostering an embrace of artificial intelligence, digital literacy, and digital empowerment.
The project aims to equip the next generation with the skills and mindset necessary to innovate and lead in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, thereby positioning Turkey as a significant player in global technological advancements.
