Thousands Protest Israeli and US Presence in Istanbul
Istanbul, March 29, 2026 – Thousands of people gathered in Istanbul on Sunday to protest against the Israeli and American military presence in the region. The march, organized by the Human Rights and Freedoms (IHH) Humanitarian Relief Foundation, the Platform for Support to Palestine, and the Islamic Solidarity Platform, proceeded from Fatih Mosque to Beyazıt Square under the slogan “We do not want occupying Israel and American military in our geography.”
Calls for Islamic Unity and Criticism of Western Policies
Bülent Yıldırım, President of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, emphasized the need for Muslims to set aside their internal disputes and form an “Islamic Union” to stand united against oppression and injustice. Speakers at the event also highlighted internal conflicts and scandals in the United States, such as the Epstein case, suggesting that these issues are being covered up by attacking Islamic lands and children.
Warnings Regarding Israel’s Intentions and Gaza Blockade
Concerns were raised about Israel’s potential actions following recent tensions with Iran, with participants predicting that Israel’s main objective is to intensify its attacks on Palestine. Strong warnings were issued regarding Israel’s alleged plans to demolish the Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging Muslims to remain vigilant and prepared.
Furthermore, it was announced that the “Sumud Flotilla,” comprising approximately 200 ships from European and Islamic countries, would once again set sail to break the blockade on Gaza.
Commitment to Continued Struggle and Regional Trust
Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, President of the Platform for Support to Palestine, affirmed that Turkey and Istanbul would continue their struggle against global Zionism and stressed the importance of establishing trust among Muslim communities.
