Istanbul, April 7 – In a major crackdown on organized crime, 29 suspects, including the alleged leader Mustafa Aksu, have been formally arrested following an extensive operation across three provinces. The operation, spearheaded by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, targeted an armed criminal organization operating primarily in Silivri and other districts.

Details of the Operation and Arrests

The investigation, conducted by the Organized Crime Bureau of the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, focused on a criminal enterprise involved in a wide range of illegal activities. These included establishing and leading an armed criminal organization, qualified robbery, manufacturing and trafficking of drugs, intentional injury with a weapon, extortionate threats, violations of Law No. 6136 (concerning firearms), usury, qualified fraud, abuse of trust, deprivation of liberty, and unlawfully providing or obtaining personal data.

Following comprehensive work by the Directorate of Organized Crime Branch, it was determined that the armed criminal organization, led by Mustafa Aksu and active in various districts, particularly Silivri, was involved in 28 separate criminal acts under these charges. A total of 52 suspects were identified for judicial proceedings.

Simultaneous operations were conducted in Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ to apprehend the suspects. During searches at the suspects’ residences, authorities seized 9 pistols, a hunting rifle, numerous promissory notes and valuable documents, and a large quantity of ammunition of various calibers.

Out of the 46 suspects apprehended during the operation, all underwent medical checks before being brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. After giving their statements to the prosecutor, 30 suspects were referred to the penal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest, while 16 were referred with a request for judicial control measures.

Judicial Decisions and Ongoing Investigation

The judgeship subsequently ordered the arrest of 29 suspects, while 17 others were placed under judicial control measures. This outcome marks a significant step in dismantling the criminal network and bringing its members to justice.

The Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and pursue any remaining leads. The successful operation underscores the commitment of Turkish law enforcement to combating organized crime and ensuring public safety.

The swift and coordinated efforts of the police and judicial authorities have been praised for their effectiveness in disrupting the activities of this dangerous criminal group. The arrests are expected to have a substantial impact on criminal operations in the region.

Further details regarding the investigation and any subsequent developments will be released by the authorities as they become available. The case highlights the persistent efforts to maintain law and order and protect citizens from the harms of organized criminal enterprises.
