Ankara-Centered Operation Targets Illegal Betting Networks Across 18 Provinces

Ankara, June 10 – An extensive operation launched from Ankara, encompassing 18 provinces, has led to the detention of 61 individuals suspected of organizing illegal online betting and games of chance. The suspects are accused of generating illicit gains through these activities. The operation, which began on June 9, 2026, is part of a broader investigation by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Ankara Police Department.

Widespread Raids and Ongoing Investigations

The simultaneous raids were conducted in Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Batman, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Hakkari, Hatay, Isparta, Istanbul, Izmir, Kahramanmaraş, Kocaeli, Mardin, Muğla, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, and Yozgat. A total of 98 suspects were identified, facing charges under Article 7258 of the Law on the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance, as well as Article 220 of the Turkish Penal Code concerning ‘forming an organization to commit a crime’.

Authorities issued warrants for the arrest and detention of these individuals, and search and seizure operations were carried out at their homes and workplaces. As of the latest reports, 61 suspects have been apprehended. Efforts to locate and detain the remaining 37 suspects are ongoing.

Digital Evidence Seized

During the searches, a significant amount of digital material was seized from the suspects’ residences and business premises. This material is expected to provide crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has stated that the investigation is being conducted thoroughly and comprehensively.

The operation underscores the authorities’ commitment to combating illegal betting activities, which often involve organized crime and significant financial illicit gains.
