ANKARA, (DHA) – Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that a total of 162 million Turkish Liras in grant support was provided for 310 projects for disabled individuals and ex-convicts during the months of May and June. This initiative is part of ongoing programs designed to support disadvantaged groups, strengthen the workforce, and boost production.

Extensive Support for Vulnerable Groups

In a statement made on his social media account, Minister Işıkhan emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. He highlighted the ‘Disabled and Ex-Convict Self-Employment Grant Support’ program, alongside vocational training and supported employment initiatives for the disabled, as key pillars of this commitment.

– “We continue to implement our programs that support disadvantaged groups, strengthening the workforce and production. We have stood by our citizens with our self-employment grant support for the disabled and ex-convicts, and our vocational training and supported employment programs for the disabled,” Minister Işıkhan stated.

162 Million Lira Distributed Across 310 Projects

The minister confirmed that a substantial 162 million Turkish Liras had been allocated to 310 projects within the specified two-month period. This significant investment underscores the government’s dedication to providing tangible opportunities for these groups to integrate into the workforce and establish their own businesses.

– “In May and June, we provided a total of 162 million lira in support to 310 projects. İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) is with you in every area of working life,” he added.

İŞKUR’s Role in Empowering the Workforce

The Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) plays a crucial role in the implementation of these programs. By providing grants and facilitating vocational training, İŞKUR aims to empower disabled individuals and ex-convicts, enabling them to gain financial independence and contribute to the national economy. The agency’s continuous support in various aspects of working life is central to the success of these initiatives.

The programs are designed to address the specific challenges faced by disabled individuals and ex-convicts in the labor market, offering them the necessary resources and opportunities to overcome barriers and achieve their professional aspirations. This includes not only financial assistance for starting businesses but also access to training that enhances their skills and employability.

Impact on Employment and Production

The grant support and training programs are expected to have a positive impact on both employment rates and overall production. By enabling more individuals from disadvantaged groups to become self-employed or enter the workforce, the government aims to tap into a broader talent pool and foster a more inclusive economic environment. The focus on self-employment, in particular, encourages entrepreneurship and innovation among these groups.

The announcement by Minister Işıkhan reaffirms the government’s strategic approach to social welfare and economic development, prioritizing the integration of all segments of society into productive roles. The continued investment in such programs reflects a long-term vision for a more equitable and prosperous working life for all citizens.
