AJet Launches Direct Flights from Ankara to St. Petersburg, Expanding International Network

Ankara, July 2, 2026 – AJet, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines (THY), has officially commenced direct flights between Ankara Esenboğa Airport and Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia. The inaugural flight, which departed following a ceremony at Ankara Esenboğa Airport, marks a significant expansion of AJet’s international destination network from Ankara and aims to strengthen air transportation between Turkey and Russia.

Inaugural Flight Ceremony and Schedule

The first Ankara-St. Petersburg flight took off at 23:50 after a send-off ceremony held at Esenboğa Airport. According to a statement from AJet, reciprocal scheduled flights between Ankara and St. Petersburg will operate five days a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

This new route complements AJet’s existing operations to Russia, where the company continues to offer daily scheduled flights between Ankara and Moscow.

Ankara’s International Flight Network Strengthens

The introduction of the St. Petersburg route further enhances AJet’s Ankara-based international flight network. This new destination is expected to significantly boost air travel, increase tourism, and contribute to the development of commercial and cultural relations between Turkey and Russia.

AJet has been consistently investing in making Ankara a stronger hub for international flights, and this new route stands out as a crucial step in this strategic initiative.

Send-off Ceremony at Esenboğa

TAV Airports, the operator of Ankara Esenboğa Airport, organized a send-off ceremony at the terminal for the inaugural flight. Passengers were offered various refreshments as part of the event. It was announced that regular scheduled flights between Ankara and St. Petersburg would continue five days a week following this first flight.

This new flight route increases direct transportation options from the capital Ankara to Russia and is considered an important milestone in AJet’s international growth strategy.
