Istanbul Anti-Drug Operations: 11 Suspects Arrested, Kilograms of Narcotics Seized
Istanbul, April 19 – In a series of comprehensive operations conducted over a 15-day period, Istanbul police have successfully apprehended 11 individuals suspected of drug trafficking and seized several kilograms of various narcotics. Four of the arrested suspects have been formally charged and remanded to prison by the court.
The Avcılar District Police Department spearheaded these intensive anti-drug operations between April 1 and April 15, targeting drug-related activities across the district. These efforts led to the discovery and confiscation of substantial amounts of illicit substances, highlighting the continuous commitment of law enforcement to combat drug crime in the region.
Significant Seizures and Arrests
During the operations, authorities seized a total of 171,577 grams of skunk, 325 grams of hashish, 74 grams of heroin, 18 narcotic pills, 26 grams of cocaine, and 4 grams of methamphetamine. In addition to the drugs, one unlicensed firearm was also recovered, underscoring the dangerous nature of drug trafficking and its links to other criminal activities.
Following their apprehension, the 11 suspects underwent processing at the police department. Subsequently, they were transferred to the courthouse for legal proceedings. A court ruling led to the formal arrest and imprisonment of four individuals, while the remaining suspects await further legal action.
Officials have reiterated their unwavering commitment to the fight against drugs, stating that inspections and operations will continue without interruption throughout the district.
