Ankara Sailing Club Kicks Off 2026 Season with Grand Opening
Ankara, (DHA) – The Ankara Sailing Club, a significant hub for water sports in Ankara, officially commenced its 2026 season with a spectacular and colorful opening ceremony. The event, held last weekend at the AYK Mogan Facilities, gathered athletes, their families, club members, water sports enthusiasts from Ankara, protocol members, and numerous visitors.
The season opening began with a lively DJ performance, followed by live music shows, dazzling laser displays, and entertainment programs that continued throughout the night, creating unforgettable moments for all attendees. Various water sports branches operating under the club also set up stands at the event area, providing an opportunity for local brands from diverse sectors in Ankara to connect with visitors.
Emphasis on Sports Tourism and Successes
Berker Bülbüloğlu, President of the Ankara Tourism Association, highlighted the importance of sailing and water sports in the development of sports tourism. Mustafa Çelik, Ankara Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, congratulated the athletes, coaches, and club administrators in his speech, wishing them a successful new season.
Sermurat Küçükgül, President of the Ankara Sailing Club, shared the club’s recent sporting achievements, noting that their focus on infrastructure development is now yielding results. Küçükgül emphasized that the accomplishments of young athletes in national and international competitions are a great source of pride for the club.
Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, President of the Ankara City Council, also attended the event, visiting the water sports stands to learn about their activities and interact with the athletes.
Dino Cup and Awards Ceremony
One of the most exciting parts of the season opening was the traditional Dino Cup races organized for Optimist class athletes. With strong interest from families, young sailors engaged in friendly competition and enjoyed the season’s inaugural event.
As part of the program, young and adult athletes who achieved success in national and regional competitions during the 2025-2026 winter season, along with members of the club’s board of directors, were invited to the stage. Club President Sermurat Küçükgül extended his gratitude to the athletes and all stakeholders who contributed to the club’s development, wishing them continued success.
