German Tourist Found Dead in Istanbul Hotel Room
Istanbul, April 27 – A 24-year-old German tourist, Selin Başak Schlosser, who arrived in Istanbul for a holiday, was found dead in her hotel room in the Fatih district. The incident, which occurred on April 23, led to the detention of five suspects, who were subsequently released after questioning.
Selin Başak Schlosser arrived in Istanbul from Germany on April 20. She checked into a hotel in the Muhsine Hatun Neighborhood of Fatih. When hotel staff were unable to reach her for some time, they notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Police and medical teams dispatched to the scene found the young woman motionless in her hotel room. Medical personnel confirmed Schlosser’s death.
Investigation Launched into the Death
Following an initial examination at the scene, Schlosser’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the exact cause of death. The report from the Forensic Medicine Institute indicated no signs of trauma, struggle, or sharp instrument wounds on Schlosser’s body.
Expanding their investigation, police teams apprehended five suspects. After processing at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. However, they were released following their statements.
Final Moments Captured on Camera
Meanwhile, footage has emerged showing Selin Başak Schlosser entering a grocery store and seeking help, claiming she was being followed. The security camera footage from the grocery store shows the young woman entering the shop and remaining inside for approximately five minutes, during which she appeared to be speaking to someone.
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Schlosser’s death. No further details regarding the cause of death or the identities of the suspects have been released at this time.
